Responsibilities
- Implement and oversee a comprehensive Quality Management Program for all equipment, software and processes related to the use of Radiation Therapy in the Cancer Center.
- Implement and oversee the Radiation Safety Program for patients, staff and visitors in the Cancer Center in compliance with all applicable regulations of the NC Division of Radiation Protection;
- Serve as department Radiation Safety Officer;
- and maintain Licenses and Regulations for radiation producing equipment and sources within the department.
- Provide clinical management support for patients, including patient chart checks and calculation verifications.
- Provide consultation as needed for Physicians.
- Oversee Treatment Planning procedures and parameters utilized for calculations.
- Serve as resource for staff, patients and visitors to address any concerns regarding the clinical use of radiation.
- Serve as liaison with service engineers for issues related to radiation equipment in the department.
- Ensure all equipment is safe for clinical use after service; repair; upgrades, etc.
- Serve as lead for Radiation Oncology equipment projects including vendor selection; equipment procurement; capital budgeting and forecasting; and project management.
- Serve as ongoing lead for APEX Accreditation and implementation of the RO-ILS patient safety reporting system (Radiation Oncology-Incident Learning System).
- Participate in Cancer Center Leadership Team; Cancer Committee; Tumor Conferences and Department QI Committee.
Qualifications
- Required:
- A Master’s Degree or PhD in Medical Physics, Physics or related field.
- ABR Certification in Therapeutic Medical Physics (or Board eligible).
- 1 - 3 years of clinical experience.
- Strong communication; teamwork and problem-solving skills.
- Preferred:
- A Master’s Degree or PhD in Medical Physics.
- ABR Certification in Therapeutic Medical Physics.
- 7+ years of clinical experience.
- 3+ years of leadership experience.
- Experience with Accreditation process (APEX or ACR).
- Experience with RO-ILS (Radiation Oncology Incident Learning System).
- Proven communication; teamwork and problem-solving skills.
