Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Director of Medical Physics and in support of the Senior Medical Physicists, responsible for the design optimization, technical evaluation and precise and accurate delivery of radiation plans.

Supports and adheres to safety and compliance program to include OSHA, HIPAA and the Code of Ethics.

Provides continuing physics support to the department of radiation oncology.

Affords assistance and provides coverage in areas of instrumentation, equipment calibration, treatment planning, dosimetry, radiation protection and quality assurance.

Requirements

  • Masters degree is required.
  • CCPM Clinical Medical Physics Certification (Canada).
  • ABMP Medical Health Physics Certification.
  • ABR Medical Physics Certification.
  • Medical Physicist in Training.
  • Treatment Radiological Physicist License.
  • Masters Degree, DMP or PhD in medical physics from an accredited College or University.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in medical radiation physics.
  • For non-certified candidates, Board eligibility and completion of certification (ABR, ABMP or CCPM) within three years.
  • Maintain certification and continuing education requirements outlined by the American College of Radiology, current certification in field by American Board of Radiology or Board of Medical Physics.
  • Obtain and maintain board certification and valid State of Florida license for medical physics as required—either TRP or MPT.
  • One or more years experience in proton therapy given preference.
  • Minimum Required Experience: 3 Years.

Qualifications

  • Additional Qualifications: Must maintain certification and continuing education requirements outlined by the American College of Radiology, current certification in field by American Board of Radiology or Board of Medical Physics.

Skills

  • Knowledge of medical physics principles and techniques.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
