Responsibilities

  • Calibrate dose meters and radiation equipment for quality assurance
  • Prepare data for treatment planning systems and improve dosimetry protocols
  • Ensure compliance with Federal, State, and organizational radiation safety regulations
  • Participate in the development of Performance Improvement activities and policies
  • Auxiliary in acceptance testing of new machines and re-commissioning after maintenance
  • Perform treatment planning, dosimetry calculations, and reviews for accuracy
  • Provide physics consultation to oncology personnel regarding patient care

Qualifications

  • M.S. or PhD in Medical Physics or a closely related field required
  • Minimum of 3+ years clinical experience post-CAMPEP residency
  • Possibly passed Part-I and possibly part-II ABR Exams
  • Experience with High Dose Rate (HDR) and Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS) programs preferred
  • Certification in Radiation Oncology Physics by ABR or alternative certifying body required; non-certified candidates must achieve certification within 3 years
  • Must apply for and maintain relevant State licensing and/or registration
