About the role

The Physicians at Men's Health Foundation report to the Chief Medical Officer and are responsible for managing patients' individualized health plans to promote and restore their health. They meet with patients to assess their symptoms, diagnose and counsel on medical conditions, set up effective treatment plans, educate on preventative health measures, and coordinate follow-up appointments.

Responsibilities

  • Meet with patients to assess their symptoms; inquire into the nature of their illness or injury.
  • Accurately identify and diagnose medical conditions.
  • Thoroughly examine patients and attend to their chief complaint.
  • Answer and advise on any other questions or concerns the patient might have.
  • Assign appropriate treatment plan according to each patient’s needs.
  • Educate and inform patient of necessary treatment plan and any follow-up appointments.
  • Perform clinical tests to better inform diagnosis.
  • Perform in-office treatment if possible.
  • Look for anything unusual or abnormal.
  • Prescribe appropriate medicines or therapy.
  • Calculate correct medication dosage for each patient and educate on proper use.
  • Order outside diagnostic tests and lab work as needed (blood/urine test, tissue samples, imagery, etc.).
  • Analyze and share results of diagnostic testing with patient.
  • Continually chart and maintain patient information on paper and in computer system.
  • Conduct follow-ups with patients to monitor and track their condition and progress.
  • Refer patient to a medical specialist when needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality and always work with respect and integrity.
  • Encourage preventative health measures including proper diet, rest and exercise.
  • Direct, train, and supervise medical staff including nurses, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and med techs on proper procedures and protocol.
  • Attend conferences and continue research in your field.

Qualifications

  • Doctorate in Medicine (M.D)
  • Valid license to practice; board certified
  • 2+ years practicing medicine in hospital or private practice
  • Adept at diagnosing problems and creating treatment plans for patients
  • Highly computer literate and familiar with charting
  • Excels in communicating sensitive and/or adverse information
  • Sound judgment and expert decision-making abilities
  • Analytical thinker and complex problem-solver
  • Sound understanding of all federal and state regulations including HIPPA and OSHA
  • Current Basic Life Support certification
  • Experience in the HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis C and chronic diseases care/management preferred
  • Basic knowledge of other infectious diseases and state/ federal reporting requirements
  • Demonstrate knowledge of effects of psychosocial needs, trauma history, and cognitive/behavioral/motivational functioning on health-related behavior and exhibit ability to intervene appropriately and effectively
  • Have the appropriate level of behavioral maturity and patience in handling a variety of patient types and needs
  • Have diplomacy and tact in handling difficult and irate patients
  • Ability to work effectively with men and transgender women of diverse races, ethnicities, ages, and sexual orientation in a multicultural environment

Company Requirements

  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and background check to include a 7-year criminal, 10-year SSN & employer history reference check

  • Must be able to work flexible schedules
  • Take yearly flu shot or wear mask during flu season and test for tuberculosis as required by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
