Overview
The Outfitter/Medical Outreach Coordinator serves as both a trusted member of Fleet Feet's retail team and the primary connection between Fleet Feet and the local medical community. In-store, this role delivers an exceptional outfitting experience by providing personalized footwear, apparel, and gear recommendations through Fleet Feet's fit process. By building genuine relationships with customers, this position helps individuals of all experience levels move comfortably, confidently, and achieve their goals.
Responsibilities
- Build authentic relationships with local medical community, wellness-related community organizations, and fitness-focused stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain partnerships with physicians, physical therapists, chiropractors, podiatrists, athletic trainers, and other healthcare professionals by educating them on Fleet Feet's fit process, products, and services.
- Work regular floor shifts, rotating between all Richmond stores, to stay connected with the customer experience, educate staff on medical and corporate outreach, and represent upcoming community events.
- Serve as a communication bridge between event planning and retail operations to ensure all staff are informed and engaged.
- Represent the Fleet Feet brand consistently across all community-facing interactions.
- Support customers through the Fleet Feet outfitting process, providing personalized service and product education.
What We're Looking For
- Passion for Fleet Feet’s mission and a desire to make a positive impact in the local running and fitness community.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to connect across diverse audiences.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, work independently, and collaborate in a team setting.
- Familiarity with tools such as Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and Canva (or a willingness to learn).
- Prior experience in run specialty retail, community outreach, or fitness-based roles is a plus.
- Existing relationships within the local running or wellness community are highly desirable.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays to attend or lead community events.
