About the role

The Illinois Public Risk Fund, managed by CCMSI, is seeking a Medical Only Clerk Team Supervisor to join their dedicated claims team. Reporting from Lisle, IL (with a hybrid schedule after training), this position offers a competitive salary range of $70,000 - $90,000.

Responsibilities

  • Review, assign, and supervise all claim activity for designated claims to ensure compliance with Corporate Claim Standards, client specific handling instructions, and applicable laws.
  • Investigate, evaluate, and adjust assigned claims in accordance with established claim handling standards and laws.
  • Establish and/or oversee reserves for designated claims within established reserve authority levels.
  • Provide oversight of medical, damage estimates, and miscellaneous invoices to determine if they are reasonable and related to designated claims.
  • Negotiate any disputed bills or invoices for resolution.
  • Authorize and make payments of claims in accordance with claim procedures utilizing a claim payment program in accordance with industry standards and within established payment authority.
  • Supervise all claim activity for specified accounts.
  • Comply with Corporate Claim Handling Standards and special client handling instructions as established.
  • Sort daily mail; remove priority mail and checks for immediate action.
  • Process incoming checks.
  • Work with Treasury funding and Treasury check printing.
  • Conduct performance appraisals and objective/goal setting and attainment of claim and support staff.
  • Conduct monthly check audit.

  • Ability to cope with job pressures in a constantly changing environment.
  • Knowledge of all lower level claim position responsibilities.
  • Detail oriented and a self-starter with strong organizational abilities.
  • Able to coordinate and prioritize required tasks.
  • Flexibility, accuracy, initiative, and the ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • Discretion and confidentiality required.
  • Reliable, predictable attendance within client service hours for the performance of this position.
  • Responsive to internal and external client needs.

Education and/or Experience

  • 5+ years claim experience is required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.
  • Three years supervisory experience preferred.

Nice to have

  • Bilingual (Spanish) proficiency — highly valued for communicating with claimants, employers, or vendors, but not required.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office programs.
