Medical Oncology PA/NP - Rural

About the Role

This position is based in our Chaska clinic location, with regular travel to our Waconia clinic and Ridgeview Medical Center in Arlington, MN. It is ideal for anyone with a passion for rural healthcare.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care for patients.
  • Initiates and documents appropriate interventions; evaluates and records patient/family response and prescribes therapies as indicated.
  • Performs procedures with minimal supervision.
  • Assesses patient/family needs and provides education.
  • Promotes wellness and recommends community resources to meet patient and family needs.
  • Incorporates evidence-based research into clinical practice.
  • Demonstrates solid knowledge of reimbursement procedures and documentation requirements.
  • Completes patient charge capture and medical record documentation in a timely fashion.
  • Provides case management for patients and their families.
  • Serves as a resource for nursing staff by providing information being studied in clinical trials.
  • Provides palliative care for the patient and their families as needed.
  • Promotes/provides staff education.
  • May include rounding at affiliated hospitals, weekend or after-hour calls.
  • May mentor new advanced practice providers.
  • May precept APP students.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Nurse Practitioner

  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited program for nursing education.
  • Current Minnesota RN license and current certification as Nurse Practitioner.
  • Minimum of three years of experience as a practicing NP.
  • Experience and knowledge in the management of the physiologic and psychological effects of a cancer diagnosis and subsequent treatment strongly preferred.
  • Previous experience in oncology preferred.

Physician Assistant

  • Successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
  • Minimum of three years' experience as a practicing Physician Assistant.
  • Previous experience in oncology preferred.
  • Current MN state licensure and current CPR certification required.
  • Experience and knowledge in the management of the physiologic and psychological effects of a cancer diagnosis and subsequent treatment strongly preferred.

Pay

$100,000-$180,000 annually, prorated by FTE.

Physical Demands

  • Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
  • Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
  • Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 40 lbs.
  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

Work Environment

  • Exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medical preparations, and other conditions common to an oncology/hematology clinic environment.
