Medical Office Assistant (Women's Health)

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work in all Preventive Health Divisions with priority in Women's Health.
  • Aid with clinic setup and manage client flow.
  • Explain clinic procedures to clients and assist with positioning, weights and measurements.
  • Check vital signs and demonstrate personal hygiene.
  • Assure clients understand professional diagnosis and medication instructions.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of patient care and practical nursing techniques.
  • Knowledge of health and safety precautions in local health departments.
  • Knowledge of dental clinic operations and protocols.
  • Ability to work with staff and patients under supervision.
  • Ability to maintain clerical records and compile reports.
  • Ability to use sound judgment and empathy in dealing with patients.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

Desired Education and Experience

  • High school or GED diploma, completion of a one-year formal training course in medical office assisting at a community college or technical institute.
  • Completion of a one-year formal training course in medical office assisting at a community college or technical institute, or a combination of one year of clerical and health/dental related experience.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification.
