Responsibilities

  • Greet and verify patient information in the NextGen system.
  • Collect and post co-pay and self-pay balances.
  • Generate lab/procedure orders, pharmacy provider, and obtain complete medical history.
  • Verify and update FSC and demographic information.
  • Perform automated appointment scheduling.
  • Maintain patients’ medical charts in paper and electronic formats.
  • Accurately scan and index electronic records.
  • Complete charge entry process and resolve registration and charge entry edits.
  • Complete payment posting process using NextGen PM system.
  • Generate no-show and missed appointment letters, dictate, sort, and distribute mail and faxes.
  • Source translation services.
  • Check out patients by scheduling return appointments and completing encounter forms.
  • Answer, screen, and direct incoming calls, and answer basic patient-related questions.
  • Comply with Billing and HIPAA regulations.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 1-2 years of work experience in a medical office setting.
  • Experience using medical billing system preferred.
