About the role
Our client, a well-established litigation boutique, is seeking a Virginia-licensed Litigation Associate Attorney with 2-10 years of litigation experience to join its growing practice. This position offers the opportunity to work on sophisticated medical malpractice defense matters while collaborating with experienced trial attorneys in a supportive and collegial environment.
The successful candidate will represent physicians, hospitals, healthcare systems, and other medical professionals in complex medical malpractice litigation, as well as assist with professional licensure and disciplinary matters involving healthcare providers.
Responsibilities
- Defend physicians, hospitals, healthcare systems, and other medical professionals in complex medical malpractice litigation.
- Represent healthcare providers in professional licensure and disciplinary proceedings before regulatory boards.
- Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other litigation documents.
- Manage all phases of discovery, including depositions, written discovery, and document review.
- Work closely with expert witnesses, including preparation and coordination of expert testimony.
- Participate in motion practice, court appearances, mediations, and trials.
- Develop litigation strategy and assist with trial preparation.
- Maintain strong client relationships while delivering practical, results-oriented legal counsel.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
- Active license to practice law in Virginia.
- 2-10 years of litigation experience, preferably in medical malpractice defense, healthcare litigation, insurance defense, or complex civil litigation.
- Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills.
- Experience handling depositions, motion practice, discovery, and trial preparation.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with attorneys and legal staff.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and client service skills.
