Medical Laboratory Technician Program Director/Full-time Faculty
About the role
The Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) Program Director at NorthWest Arkansas Community College (NWACC) is responsible for the development, implementation, and administration of the MLT program. This role includes curriculum development, faculty supervision, program accreditation, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
Responsibilities
Developing, administrating, managing, and evaluating the MLT program curriculum
Identifying textbooks and other course materials
Overseeing the MLT budget and recommending changes as appropriate to include student fees and expenditures
Developing and implementing program changes and courses in response to the needs of the community in conjunction with an advisory board
Providing leadership and vision for the creation and implementation of the MLT program
Working to develop the program into a nationally accredited program
Communicating with industry partners on a regular basis
Developing and maintaining agreements for student clinical rotations
Teaching courses as full-time faculty within the confines of NWACC teaching policies, receiving release hours for performance of administrative program director duties
Participating in college faculty and committee activities
Developing, implementing, monitoring and revising MLT program policies and procedures in collaboration with the Dean of Health Professions and Associate Vice President for Workforce
Developing, implementing, and maintaining the application process for students wishing to enter the MLT program
Working with advisors, faculty, and administration on updates to the MLT program
Advising students on an as needed basis
Using interpersonal skills and making sound judgments to decide how duties and responsibilities are completed between coworkers, the supervisory chain, faculty, staff, students, and industry partners
Requirements
Masters degree and ASCP-BOC certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS)
At least three years teaching experience
Program Director experience in an MLT program
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of planning, research, and analysis techniques and procedures
Knowledge of department, operations, policies, and procedures
Knowledge of state and federal personnel laws, policies, and procedures
Skills
Ability to work effectively with employees and all levels of leadership within the institution
Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Visio) and HRIS systems
A self-starter who takes accountability for performance while requiring minimal supervision
Strong time management, multi-tasking, and organizational skills
Ability to build relationships with individuals and teams across the institution and campus
Ability to analyze information and recommend appropriate action
Ability to organize and conduct meetings and workshops
Ability to conduct research and perform quantitative quality assurance reviews
Ability to research, prepare, and present comprehensive written and oral reports
Ability to report clear, concise and accurate ad-hoc reports to all levels of leadership
