About the role
MUSC/Florence, SC is currently seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT)/Medical Technologist (MT) to join their phenomenal team on a PRN basis.
Responsibilities
- Performs a variety of routine and specialized diagnostic medical lab tests as requested by healthcare staff according to established protocols and procedures.
- Prepares specimens for microscopic examination or testing procedures.
- Operates automated laboratory instrumentation and equipment.
- Performs quality control and assurance procedures.
- Records lab results in specified system.
- Follows all required HIPAA privacy, safety, and biohazard procedures and standards.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited/NAACLS approved program for Medical Laboratory Scientist/Clinical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT).
- ASCP, AMT, NCA, or HEW certification required.
- One to two years’ experience working in an accredited laboratory preferred, but new grads will be considered.
Qualifications
Education: Graduate of an accredited/NAACLS approved program for Medical Laboratory Scientist/Clinical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT).
Certification: ASCP, AMT, NCA, or HEW required.
Experience: One to two years’ experience working in an accredited laboratory preferred, but new grads will be considered.
Skills
Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, ability to work independently, and excellent communication skills are essential.
