Responsibilities
- Perform a full range of clinical laboratory testing in the areas of Chemistry, Hematology, Blood Bank, Urinalysis, and Coagulation.
- Analyze patient specimens and accurately report laboratory results in accordance with established laboratory policies and procedures.
- Operate, maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation and equipment.
- Ensure quality control and quality assurance standards are met and document all required laboratory activities.
- Review, verify, and release test results while maintaining accuracy and timely turnaround times.
- Perform specimen processing, preparation, handling, and storage according to laboratory protocols.
- Navigate and troubleshoot instrument malfunctions and testing discrepancies and take appropriate corrective actions.
- Adhere to all laboratory safety, infection control, regulatory, and accreditation requirements.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation within the laboratory information system (LIS).
- Collaborate with laboratory staff, providers, and other healthcare professionals to support quality patient care.
- Participate in training, competency assessments, and continuing education activities as required.
- Support operational needs of the laboratory, including weekend, holiday, and off-shift coverage as necessary.
Qualifications
- An Associate or higher degree in a related field from an accredited educational institution, or military MLT training and experience.
- Completion of a medical technician practice program and certified as an MLT by the ASCP-BOC or AMTA.
- A minimum of one (1) year of experience within the last three (3) years - PREFERRED.
- Experience operating any of the following analyzers is strongly preferred: Chemistry: Abbott Alinity iH, Hematology: Sysmex, Coagulation: ACL TOP, Urinalysis: Sysmex, Blood Bank: Bio-Rad IH-500.
- Demonstrated knowledge of laboratory medicine techniques and practices.
- Demonstrated education and clinical training in the practice of laboratory medicine.
