About the role

To obtain clinical specimens and perform technical analyses to aid health care providers in patient diagnosis and treatment. Performs procedures in all technical areas of the clinical laboratory.

Responsibilities

  • Obtains patient specimens and processes them for testing.
  • Performs analyses and reports results on patient specimens.
  • Performs and documents laboratory quality control.
  • Participates in proficiency testing and quality improvement evaluations.
  • Maintains current in-depth knowledge of medical technology.
  • Performs miscellaneous duties as scheduled. Accepts and satisfactorily completes other duties as assigned by the Director of Clinical Operations or Assistant Laboratory Manager.
  • Demonstrates professionalism and commitment to quality care by adhering to customer service standards, respecting patient rights and confidentiality, following policies and procedures, and actively supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Demonstrates regular and punctual attendance pattern.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an approved school with two-year Medical Laboratory Technician program
  • Certified as a Medical Laboratory Technician with the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or equivalent
  • Successful completion of 15-week training as part of degree program
  • Demonstrated ability to operate clinical laboratory equipment
  • Experience with and a moderate comfort level using a personal computer
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully work with a diverse community and provide services from a non-judgmental perspective
  • Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two or more years of experience in a laboratory performing moderate complexity testing

Pay

$55,470 per year

Schedule

  • 8AM – 5:30PM, Monday – Friday
  • Occasional weekend and holiday work, as assigned

Weekly scheduled hours: 40. FLSA status: Non-Exempt from FLSA. Earliest start date: Immediately. Position duration: Expected to continue. Location: UT Main Campus.
