About the role
The position is responsible for laboratory technician bench duties and project duties within the laboratory. Lab Techs perform routine and complex tests in hematology, chemistry, microbiology, and immunohematology. Responsibilities include planning, performing, and evaluating laboratory testing analysis; leading and directing day-to-day work; managing inventory; and establishing or maintaining communications with physicians, patients, hospital personnel, professional associations, and other organizations.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine and complex laboratory tests in hematology, chemistry, microbiology, and immunohematology.
- Plan, perform, and evaluate laboratory testing and analysis.
- Lead and direct day-to-day laboratory operations.
- Manage laboratory inventory and supplies.
- Establish and maintain communications with physicians, patients, hospital personnel, and external organizations.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree or equivalent coursework/training (e.g., Military MLT training program).
- Upon hire: National Medical Laboratory Technician certification from one of the following:
- American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP),
- American Medical Technologists (AMT), or
- American Association of Bioanalysts (AAB).
- Within 90 days of hire: Washington Medical Assistant Phlebotomist Certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a medical laboratory, preferably in a medium- to high-complexity setting.

Pay
The pay range for this position is $25.28 - $38.68 per hour. These amounts reflect the base pay range; additional compensation may be available, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call pay, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
Schedule
Full time, with multiple shifts available.
Work location: St. Joseph's Hospital-Chewelah, WA. This is an on-site position.
