Medical Laboratory Technician - Clinical Laboratory

About the role

Under the direct supervision of the Section Supervisor, the Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) processes patient specimens, performs testing and reports specified clinical laboratory diagnostic tests, as permitted by Federal and State regulations. The MLT notifies appropriate clinical personnel of critical results and provides proper documentation. The role includes performing a variety of clerical and quality control activities and participating in diagnostic laboratory services for neonate, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients.

This position is per-diem and will work 8-hour, variable shifts.

Responsibilities

• Process patient specimens for clinical laboratory diagnostic tests.
• Perform and report specified clinical laboratory diagnostic tests in compliance with Federal and State regulations.
• Notify appropriate clinical personnel of critical results and ensure proper documentation.
• Perform clerical and quality control activities.
• Participate in diagnostic laboratory services for patients across all age groups (neonate, pediatric, adult, and geriatric).

Requirements

• Associate's Degree in Chemical, Physical, Biological, or Clinical Lab Science.
• Completion of a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) training program approved by the State of California.
• Upon hire: California Medical Laboratory Technician License or California Clinical Laboratory Scientist License.

Preferred Qualifications

• 2 years of clinical laboratory experience.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $29.62 - $45.31 per hour. These amounts are the base pay range; additional compensation may be available for shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
