Medical Laboratory Technician

Responsibilities

• Perform clinical testing in at least two of the following lab areas: bloodbank, microbiology, serology, and core lab which includes chemistry, hematology, coagulation, or urinalysis.
• Prepare samples for analysis appropriately, accepting or rejecting specimens according to laboratory policy.
• Store and/or transport samples using appropriate methods and following set laboratory turnaround times.
• Accurately and precisely test results.
• Maintain equipment and supplies per laboratory protocol.
• Work under the direct supervision of a director, manager, supervisor, or charge technologist as assigned.

Requirements

• Education: Associate Degree in medical laboratory technology or related science with an approved training program, or High school diploma and successful completion of an official military medical laboratory procedure course of at least 50 weeks duration and holding the military enlisted occupational specialty of Medical Laboratory Specialist.
• Experience: 2-3 years of laboratory work.
• Licenses/Certifications: NYS Clinical Laboratory Technician License.

Qualifications

Must be able to pass a background check.

Skills

Knowledge of latest technology in clinical testing, ability to prepare samples, store and transport samples, maintain equipment and supplies, and work under supervision.
