About the role

HCA Houston Healthcare Kingwood is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician who is passionate about the patient experience. This position requires a strong foundation in laboratory techniques and a commitment to providing exceptional care.

Responsibilities

  • Knowledge in use of all laboratory forms, requisitions, logs and departmental charges
  • Demonstrate understanding of specimen requirements, processing, handling and rejection criteria
  • Perform manual and automated test procedures and report laboratory results including special calculations, critical values, and quality control
  • Operate and maintain laboratory instrumentation and perform minor troubleshooting
  • Comply with hospital policies and procedures, including technical, safety, infection control and disaster policies
  • Support the philosophy of Kingwood Medical Center by facilitating cooperation of hospital staff in a multi-disciplinary approach to patient care
  • Provide outstanding service to all patients, physicians, fellow employees, and guests
  • Maintain awareness of own limitations and seek guidance as needed
  • Prioritize activities based on demands for service
  • Remain alert to the detection of errors in own work and the work of others with appropriate corrective actions initiated
  • Understand patient rights, including confidentiality, informed decision-making, and privacy
  • Practice cost-efficiently and perform technical skills proficiently in accordance with established standards
  • Utilize specialized knowledge and skill to perform job requirements
  • Operate and maintain laboratory instrumentation, including minor troubleshooting
  • Perform manual and automated test procedures
  • Report laboratory results, including special calculations, critical values and quality control in a timely manner
