Job Overview
Fairview is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) at M Health Fairview Clinic - Fridley, M Health Fairview Clinic - Andover, and M Health Fairview Clinic - Bass Lake. Shifts vary from 6:30am to 12pm with primary shifts at Fridley Specialty clinic. Weekend shifts are required at Andover Urgent Care, rotating every fifth weekend. The schedule can be adjusted to meet departmental needs.
About the Role
The MLT plays a crucial role in providing quality laboratory services in an ambulatory healthcare setting. They perform a variety of tests, maintain equipment, and communicate results accurately.
Responsibilities
- Follow established guidelines to collect and process specimens.
- Verify patient identity and specimen integrity.
- Perform waived, moderate, or high complexity testing as per SOP.
- Operate laboratory instrumentation and information systems.
- Document deviations and take corrective actions.
- Evaluate and communicate abnormal results.
- Orient and mentor new employees.
Requirements
- Associate or higher degree in a related laboratory field or equivalent experience.
- ASCP, ASCPi, AMT, or AAB - MLT certification within 1 year.
- Basic Life Support certification within 90 days.
Qualifications
- Associate or higher degree from an accredited college/university in a related laboratory field.
- Completion of a 50-week U.S. military medical laboratory training course and an associate or higher degree.
- Completion of a 50-week U.S. military medical laboratory training course and an associate or higher degree with 6 semester hours in biology and 6 semester hours in chemistry.
- Completion of a 50-week U.S. military medical laboratory training course and an associate or higher degree with 6 semester hours in biology and 6 semester hours in chemistry.
Skills
Knowledge of laboratory techniques, instrumentation, and information systems. Ability to work independently and under general supervision. Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Pay
Compensation within the posted range is determined by various factors including skills, knowledge, relevant education, experience, and market conditions. The maximum of the range is not typical. Sign-on bonuses are available for eligible roles.
