About the role
This position provides services of both a technical and non-technical nature in the laboratory service areas. It involves performing routine and complex laboratory tests to provide physicians with rapid and accurate results.
Responsibilities
- Performs waived, moderate, and/or highly complex analytic processes without direct supervision.
- Operates, calibrates, and troubleshoots laboratory instruments and ensures proper functioning of equipment.
- Recognizes when professional service is required and requests it if covered under a service contract. Otherwise, reports service needs to supervisor for resolution.
- Performs quality control (QC) procedures as specified in lab section SOPs and maintains QC records and documentation.
- Processes data, verifies accuracy, and enters data in the laboratory information system, along with explanatory or interpretive information.
- Maintains adequate inventory of reagents and supplies.
- Trains new and current employees on procedures and policies.
- Provides technical information and/or instruction to clients, new employees, medical students, residents, peers, physicians, and the public as requested.
- Resolves and documents resolution of all QC results which fail lab criteria and institutes corrective action.
- Evaluates exceptions to established criteria and special circumstances related to specimen collection and integrity.
- Trains peers performing testing as a qualified observer after two years of experience not including NY testing.
Requirements
- Education: Evaluation of education and credentials, including transcripts, degrees, and certifications.
- Experience: Within one semester or quarter of obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology and having completed the clinical rotation in the area of job duties.
- Pay Rate: Minimum pay rate of $25.41/hr, with a requirement to obtain certification within six months.
Qualifications
- Must be able to pass a background check.

- Must be able to pass a physical exam.
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
- Must be able to pass a TB skin test.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical exam.

Benefits
Offers a $3,000 sign-on bonus plus a relocation reimbursement package. Conditions may apply.
Pay
The minimum pay rate is $25.41/hr, with a requirement to obtain certification within six months.
Schedule
The schedule is 6:00 AM - 4:30 PM, with a 7-on/7-off B week.
