About the role
This position provides services of both a technical and non-technical nature in the laboratory service areas. It performs routine and complex laboratory tests to provide physicians with rapid and accurate results.
Responsibilities
- Performs waived, moderate, and/or highly complex analytic processes without direct supervision.
- Operates, calibrates, and troubleshoots laboratory instruments and ensures proper functioning.
- Recognizes when professional service is required and requests service if instrument is covered under a service contract.
- Follows specimen collection, handling, transport, and recording procedures.
- Processes data, verifies accuracy, and enters data in the laboratory information system.
- Maintains QC records and documentation necessary to meet the standards of accrediting agencies.
- Assists with workload in any section where competency has been verified and is current.
- Evaluates exceptions to established criteria and special circumstances related to specimen collection and integrity.
- Trains new and current employees on procedures and policies.
- Provides technical information and/or instruction to clients, new employees, medical students, residents, peers, physicians, and the public as requested.
- Maintains adequate inventory of reagents and supplies.
- Directs workflow activities and reviews daily data reports as assigned.
- Trains peers performing testing as a qualified observer after two years of experience not including NY testing.
Requirements
- Education: Evaluation of education and credentials, including transcripts, degrees, and certifications.
- Experience: Within one semester or quarter of obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology, and successful completion of the clinical rotation in the area of job duties.
- Pay Rate: Minimum pay rate of $25.41/hr. May be hired as a Technician, Medical Laboratory Scientist in Training.

- Ability to perform stooping, reaching, mobility, communication, and vision tasks.
- Use of fine motor control and color vision.
- Continual assessment of current literature and best practices.
Skills
- Technical skills in performing laboratory tests.

Benefits
Includes a $3,000 sign-on bonus and a relocation reimbursement package. Schedule includes Wednesday - Saturday (40 hrs/wk) 9:00 AM - 7:30 PM training schedule Monday - Thursday (40 hrs/wk) 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM.
Pay
$25.41/hr minimum, with the possibility of advancement to a Medical Laboratory Scientist in Training position after six months of employment.

Wednesday - Saturday (40 hrs/wk) 9:00 AM - 7:30 PM training schedule Monday - Thursday (40 hrs/wk) 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM.
