Medical Laboratory Scientist or Technician
Job Summary
This position supports the mission of Presbyterian/St. Luke’s Medical Center by optimizing the quality of life of all those served, expanding beyond traditional medical needs to the needs of the whole person.
Responsibilities
- Perform therapeutic apheresis and cellular collection/harvest and processing for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients in compliance with The Joint Commission, FDA, & Foundation for Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT) standards.
- Basic patient care includes accessing central lines and monitoring vital signs.
- Function within the philosophy, policies, and procedures of Presbyterian/St. Luke’s Medical Center.
- Strive to improve through formal and informal education.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the CT Manager or Lead Tech.
Qualifications
- Licensure/Certification/Registration: Medical Technologist or Medical Lab Scientist certification by one of the following: ASCP, NCA, or HEW (ISCLT).
- BLS required.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and other health care team members.
- Ability to manage a team and work with others within a team to ensure quality patient care.
- Strong critical thinking skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or related field (Chemistry, Biology, etc.) preferred.
- Experience in phlebotomy, therapeutic apheresis, stem cell collection, bone marrow harvest, cell processing/cryopreservation is desired but not necessary.
- No travel required.
