Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) / Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) – $2,500 Sign‑On Bonus

Part-time, rotating shift position in Shelby, MI (Oceana County). This position is eligible for a $2,500 sign-on bonus.

Responsibilities

• Performs laboratory procedures according to protocols consistent with the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act of 1988.
• Conducts a variety of chemical, microscopic, bacteriologic, and diagnostic laboratory tests to assist physicians in diagnosis and treatment of medical disorders, bodily dysfunction, and evaluation of patient response to treatment.
• Analyzes and documents test results and reports clinical findings.
• Performs incidental specimen procurement, preparation, and processing.
• Performs tests in Hematology, Chemistry, Microbiology, and Blood Bank.
• Receives specimens, clarifies test requests, checks specimen integrity and labeling.
• Organizes, prepares, and processes specimens.
• Works independently in assigned laboratory departments.
• Performs testing, evaluates results, solves problems, documents results, and communicates reports as needed.
• Assists in training and orientation of new employees and students.
• Performs specimen collection duties.

Requirements

• MLS (ASCP) certification or MLT (ASCP) certification.
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Chemistry, or Biology.
• National licensure as a Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Technician (ASCP, AMT).
• Ability to effectively communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.
• Additional languages preferred.
