Medical Laboratory Scientist II - Generalist

About the role

Medical Laboratory Scientist II responsible for performing moderate/high complexity tests, troubleshooting instruments, and ensuring accurate, timely results in a hospital-based laboratory setting.

Responsibilities

• Perform and report analytical tests following SOPs, maintaining quality control and instrument calibration.
• Support department operations through troubleshooting, equipment maintenance, staff training, and process improvements.
• Ensure proper specimen handling, documentation, and adherence to safety and regulatory protocols.
• Enter and verify test results in laboratory information systems, maintaining accurate records.
• Assist in training staff and may assume lead responsibilities in supervisor’s absence.

Requirements

• Ability to stand for long periods.
• Lift objects up to 25 pounds.
• Handle manual dexterity tasks.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year full-time experience or training in a high-complexity clinical lab; 3+ years preferred.
• BS/BA in Medical Technology, Chemistry, or Biology; associate’s degree or relevant certification acceptable.
• Certifications like ASCP are preferred.

Skills

• Proficiency in laboratory instrumentation, troubleshooting, and LIS.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
