Responsibilities
- Demonstrate proficiency in all areas of testing and troubleshoot applicable instruments/procedures.
- Support the department in quality control, troubleshooting, customer support, instrument/equipment maintenance, staff training, process improvement, and special projects.
- Perform and report on assigned analytical tests in compliance with SOPs, ensuring quality control requirements are met.
- Support and comply with laboratory policies and procedures for specimen handling, test analysis, reporting, and record keeping.
- Maintain laboratory areas and equipment in a safe, functional, and sanitary condition.
- Complete training and competency checklists as appropriate.
- Assist supervisor with training of other laboratory personnel.
- Adhere to CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and laboratory safety requirements.
- Report deviations from standard or accepted testing procedures and cooperate with investigations.
- Enter test results into the Laboratory Information System for standardized reports.
- May assist in answering client questions and participating in inspections.
Qualifications
- One (1) year full-time experience or training in a clinical laboratory setting (high complexity testing).
- Minimum of 3 years clinical experience with most current year in present department.
- Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 36 pounds frequently, and objects over 50 pounds with assistance.
- Standing and working at a bench for long periods, frequent walking, and manual dexterity required.
- Theoretical and operational job knowledge in designated specialty required.
- Knowledge of organizational/departmental policies and procedures.
- BS/BA in Medical Technology, Chemistry, or Biology, or Associates degree in a Laboratory Science or Medical Technology.
- ASCP Certification preferred.
- MLS, Medical Laboratory Scientist, Medical Lab Scientist, Med Tech, Medical Technologist, CLS, Clinical Lab Scientist.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Laboratory Information Systems.
About the Role
Perform test procedures of moderate/high complexity requiring independent judgement and responsibility.
May be eligible for shift differential based on hours worked on second and third shifts.
May assume lead responsibilities in the absence of a Supervisor.
