About the role
Join the Quest Diagnostics Team supporting Corewell Health in Hastings, MI. A $9,000.00 sign-on bonus is available for external applicants.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate proficiency in all areas of testing and troubleshoot applicable instruments/procedures.
- Support the department in quality control, troubleshooting, customer support, instrument/equipment maintenance, staff training, process improvement, and special projects.
- Report on assigned analytical tests in accordance with SOPs, ensuring quality control requirements are met.
- Support and comply with laboratory policies and procedures for specimen handling, test analysis, reporting, and record maintenance.
- Ensure reagents/test kits have correct dates and perform QC analysis to ensure accuracy of clinical data and proper instrument function.
- Inform supervisory personnel of test procedure issues and cooperate with investigations.
- Enter test results into the Laboratory Information System for physician review and interpretation.
- Maintain laboratory areas and equipment in a safe, functional, and sanitary condition.
- Complete training and competency checklists as appropriate.
- Assist supervisor with training of other laboratory personnel.
- Adhere to CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and laboratory safety requirements.
- Use personal protective equipment, engineering controls, and work practice controls as directed.
- Answer questions from clients or other lab personnel.
- Participate in government/regulatory agency inspections.
Qualifications
- One (1) year full-time experience or training in a clinical laboratory setting (high complexity testing).
- Minimum of 3 years clinical experience in the present department.
- Frequent standing, walking, and manual dexterity required.
- Comprehensive theoretical and operational job knowledge in designated specialty.
- Knowledge of organizational/departmental policies and procedures.
- BS/BA in Medical Technology, Chemistry, or Biology, or Associates degree in a Laboratory Science or Medical Technology, or previously qualified as a Technologist under 42 CFR 493.
- ASCP Certification required within one year of start date.
