Medical Laboratory Scientist I- HLA

Summary of Job Duties

This position will work under the supervision and direction of the HLA laboratory supervisor. Medical Laboratory Scientists I in the HLA laboratory perform a variety of technical procedures including HLA typing by rSSO and next generation sequencing methods, Luminex based HLA Antibody identification, and donor/recipient flow cytometric cross-matching.

Qualifications

• Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, Chemistry, or Biology. ASCP or another accrediting agency certified or eligible (Certification must be obtained within one year of employment).
• Preferred Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Medical Laboratory SciencesASCP CertifiedPrevious HLA experience

Job Requirements

• Keep all instrumentation in good working order and identify and notify the supervisor or lead tech of instrument malfunctions.
• Aid in instrument repair.
• Identify abnormal or discrepant results.
• Have limited participation in student teaching and assisting of other personnel rotating through the section.
• Have limited administrative duties.

Salary Information
