About the role

The Medical Laboratory Scientist I plays a crucial role in specimen processing, test performance, and result reporting. They follow CLIA guidelines and maintain records demonstrating proficiency testing.

Responsibilities

  • Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting, and record keeping.
  • Maintain accurate records of quality control activities, instrument calibrations, and maintenance.
  • Adhere to quality control policies and report deviations from performance specifications.
  • Identify and address issues affecting test performance or reporting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Laboratory Sciences, Medical Technology, or related field.
  • Experience in a clinical laboratory setting preferred, but not required.
  • Medical Technologist (ASCP) certification preferred.

Qualifications

  • Basic understanding of laboratory equipment and operations.
  • Ability to multitask and pay close attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively.
