Job Description
Joining AdventHealth is about extending the healing ministry of Christ. The schedule is full-time night shifts, 4-10 hours per shift Monday through Thursday, from 2100-0730. No call is required.
- Performs pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical lab activities accurately according to standard operating procedures.
- Maintains laboratory equipment and workspace through routine cleaning, disinfection, and function checks.
- Supports workflow, inventory control, specimen collection/processing, and provides technical support to clinical staff.
- Participates in performance improvement, proficiency testing, and training/mentorship of staff and students.
Requirements
- Follows and ensures adherence to the Corporate Compliance Plan and all applicable local, state, and federal rules and regulations; protects patient information and results.
- Able to work independently and adapt to varying priorities, directing workflow with minimal supervision.
- Able to maintain equipment/records and perform quality assessment activities.
- Able to educate and train new staff in medical laboratory settings.
- Able to effectively communicate in verbal and written English with patients, staff, partners, and customers of varied backgrounds.
- Able to operate computer systems to maintain patient documentation, testing records, and other related documents.
- Knowledge of laboratory testing functions and equipment use.
- Critical thinking skills and attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficient in verbal and written communication skills; additional languages.
- Strong analytical and mathematical abilities; excellent organization and people skills.
- Flexibility in scheduling of hours; may be required to work overtime, weekends, and holidays.
- Able to read, write, and follow instructions in English; good oral communication skills; excellent customer service skills.
- Mathematical, computer reasoning, and language skills at the college level (2 years).
- Ability to multitask and knowledge of basic state and federal laws as applicable to the laboratory setting.
- Ability to handle infectious biological specimens, caustics, toxic chemicals, and/or irritants appropriately and safely.
- Willingness and ability to learn and develop new techniques and procedures as needed for research protocol development.
Education
- Associates degree in a laboratory science (chemical or biological science) or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution.
- Successfully completed a 50-week official US military medical laboratory procedures training course and currently hold or have held the military enlisted occupational specialty of Medical Laboratory Specialist (Laboratory Technician).
- Qualified and served as high complexity testing personnel on or before April 24, 1995, in a CLIA-certified laboratory as of December 28, 2024, and have done so continuously since December 28, 2024.
Pay Range
$22.66 - $42.14
