Medical Laboratory Scientist - East

About the role

The East Clinical Laboratory provides comprehensive, time-sensitive laboratory services to patients with various diagnoses or admission/discharge criteria. The laboratory performs a range of tests including Chemistry, Immunochemistry, Coagulation, Hematology, Urinalysis, Manual Testing, Rapid Covid, Rapid Influenza, Manual Body Fluid and CSF cell counts, and Transfusion Services. It also offers training for new staff and medical technology students.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine automated and manual procedures
• Verifies and reports test requests and results
• Manages phone inquiries regarding patient results, specimen collection, and testing frequency
• Uses the laboratory computer system to review reports and call critical values to healthcare professionals
• Documents quality control, quality assurance, and preventative maintenance on instrumentation
• Provides training for new staff and medical technology students

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in medical technology or biological science
• MT certification
• Must obtain MT certification within one year from the date of hire

Qualifications

• For Hire: Bachelor’s degree in medical technology or biological science with MT certification. Must obtain MT certification within one year from the date of hire.
