Medical Laboratory Scientist ASCP - Microbiology - Day shift
Responsibilities
- Performs authorized moderate and high complexity tests requiring appropriate skill and training
- Follows procedures for specimen handling, processing, analysis, and result reporting
- Maintains records for proficiency testing and ensures consistency with patient specimen testing
- Adheres to quality control policies and documents all related activities and maintenance
- Responds appropriately when test systems fall outside acceptable performance levels
- Identifies and resolves issues affecting test performance or escalates as needed
- Documents corrective actions when performance specifications are not met
- Produces consistently accurate work and promotes high standards across the team
- Communicates clearly and professionally, exercises sound judgment, and adapts tone to audience
- Works independently with minimal supervision, follows instructions, and seeks guidance when necessary
- Demonstrates technical competency and applies knowledge effectively in daily tasks
- P Practices safety protocols rigorously and promotes awareness of unsafe practices
Requirements
- Education Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in chemical, biological, clinical, or medical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution plus one of the following: Associate degree in laboratory science or medical laboratory technology, Completion of a 50-week US military medical laboratory training course with relevant occupational specialty
- Experience: Minimum of One Year Full-time Clinical Laboratory Experience
- Licenses or Certifications: ASCP, AMT, or equivalent nationally recognized certification required
Qualifications
- Familiarity with laboratory equipment such as centrifuges, microscopes, auto analyzers
- Proficiency with LIS, keyboarding, calculators, and fax machines
- Basic computer skills required
