Medical Laboratory Scientist ASCP - Microbiology - Day shift

Responsibilities

• Performs authorized moderate and high complexity tests requiring appropriate skill and training
• Follows procedures for specimen handling, processing, analysis, and result reporting
• Maintains records for proficiency testing and ensures consistency with patient specimen testing
• Adheres to quality control policies and documents all related activities and maintenance
• Responds appropriately when test systems fall outside acceptable performance levels
• Identifies and resolves issues affecting test performance or escalates as needed
• Documents corrective actions when performance specifications are not met
• Produces consistently accurate work and promotes high standards across the team
• Communicates clearly and professionally, exercises sound judgment, and adapts tone to audience
• Works independently with minimal supervision, follows instructions, and seeks guidance when necessary
• Demonstrates technical competency and applies knowledge effectively in daily tasks
• P Practices safety protocols rigorously and promotes awareness of unsafe practices

Requirements

• Education Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in chemical, biological, clinical, or medical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution plus one of the following: Associate degree in laboratory science or medical laboratory technology, Completion of a 50-week US military medical laboratory training course with relevant occupational specialty
• Experience: Minimum of One Year Full-time Clinical Laboratory Experience
• Licenses or Certifications: ASCP, AMT, or equivalent nationally recognized certification required

Qualifications

• Familiarity with laboratory equipment such as centrifuges, microscopes, auto analyzers
• Proficiency with LIS, keyboarding, calculators, and fax machines
• Basic computer skills required
