Medical Lab Technician, PRN

About the role

The Medical Laboratory Technician II is part of the provider care team, contributing to the diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of patient conditions through technical and scientific knowledge. This position ensures accurate, precise, and timely performance of laboratory tests, evaluates and reports test results, and maintains compliance with regulatory requirements for a high-quality laboratory.

The role requires excellent customer service skills in all internal and external interactions, aligned with Mercy Signature Service, and adherence to Mercy’s mission, values, and service standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform laboratory tests with accuracy, precision, and timeliness.
  • Evaluate and report test results while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service in all interactions.
  • Uphold Mercy’s mission, values, and service standards.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in a major acceptable to a certification agency for MLT.
  • ASCP certification or equivalent as a Medical Laboratory Technician.
  • Up to 2 years of acceptable clinical laboratory experience as a certified MLT or equivalent, or certification-eligible new MLT graduate.
  • If ASCP certification was achieved after January 1, 2004, continuing certification maintenance must be documented to ensure current certification.
  • Associate degree meeting requirements for ASCP MLT certification.
