About the role
St. Mary Medical Center, a member of Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic, is looking for a Medical Lab Tech to join our team!
Schedule
Pool, day shift with weekend and holiday rotation.
Responsibilities
- Competent in Blood Bank, Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, Coagulation and Urinalysis.
- Good working knowledge and application of standard laboratory practices.
- Work independently with good decision-making skills.
- Utilize quality control for decision making on a routine basis to establish standards.
- Communicate critical values in accordance with departmental policy.
- Recognize abnormal results and take appropriate action in accordance with departmental policy.
- Accurately perform STAT and routine orders within established time limits.
- Adequately collect and/or process specimens.
- Safely perform all routine maintenance procedures.
- Perform and evaluate instrument functions.
- Recognize malfunctions and implement corrective actions.
- Consistently complete documentation of maintenance procedures and/or instrument malfunctions.
- Notify appropriate personnel of instrumentation status, including oncoming shift via Departmental Communication book.
- Monitor inventory levels and follow appropriate protocol for re-ordering supplies.
- Review specimen logs to confirm completion of work and resolve outstanding tests.
- Demonstrate adequate knowledge of appropriate computer functions.
- Assist Central Processing by receiving specimens, responding to Pneumatic tube, and answering telephones.
- Adapt work schedule to meet emergency staffing needs.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications
- Technical School/2 Years College / Associate’s Degree.
- AS (MLT) with ASCP eligible or equivalent.
- Bachelor's Degree preferred.
