MEDICAL LAB TECHNICIAN (MLT)

About the role

The Medical Laboratory Technician performs medical laboratory tests and procedures to provide data for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease as ordered by a physician. They ensure proper patient and specimen identification, oversee quality control evaluation, manage supplies, and maintain analyzers and data. They must demonstrate competency, knowledge, and skills to interact with and advocate for patients, work closely with clinicians, and provide high-quality patient services.

Responsibilities

• Perform medical laboratory tests and procedures as directed by a physician
• Ensure proper patient and specimen identification
• Oversight of quality control evaluation
• Manage supplies and maintain analyzers and data
• Interact with and advocate for patients
• Work closely with clinicians to provide diagnostic information
• Provide high-quality patient services following established techniques

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of a formal training program in medical laboratory technology
• Current certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician from a recognized organization
• Ability to pass a background check

Qualifications

Pay
