Medical Lab Technician/Medical Technologist - Microbiology

Mostly evening shift with occasional days, including rotating weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Accurately process, analyze, and report laboratory results in a timely manner with minimal supervision while maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards.
• Comprehend and follow procedural guidelines in performance of laboratory tests, including:
  • Quality control monitoring
  • Computer applications
  • Instrumentation troubleshooting
  • Specimen collection and processing requirements
• Exercise professional judgment in the performance and interpretation of laboratory tests while following established procedures.
• Assume lead responsibilities in the absence of a supervisor.
• Perform and interpret standard, complex, and specialized tests.
• Implement and monitor quality control programs with a strong understanding of quality assurance.

Requirements

Medical Lab Technician (MLT):

• Associate degree from an accredited Medical Laboratory Technician Program.
• ACT 169 clearance.
• Certification by A.S.C.P. within 6 months from date of hire.
• OR possess a H.E.W. certification with 5 years of full-time clinical laboratory experience.
• OR already functioning as an MLT within SVH or TMC (Grandfathered) as of June 2002.

Medical Technologist (MT):

• MT (ASCP) certified.
• OR hold a BS degree from an accredited and associated certification program and obtain A.S.C.P. certification within 6 months from date of hire.
• OR already functioning as an MT within HVS or HVB (Grandfathered) as of June 2002.
• OR certified as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist (CLT) through HEW with a minimum of 20 years of experience as a CLT.

Both MLT and MT must obtain successful completion of Acts 73 and/or 169 clearances within 90 days of commencing employment, if applicable.
