Starting Pay - $26.07 to $32.59 (based on experience)
Offers for external candidates are generally made between the minimum and midpoint of the range, based on experience.

Minimum Qualifications
Medical Laboratory Technician (ASCP or equivalent certification) or equivalent education
Previous recent experience in Laboratory Science preferred
Requires good communication skills and ability to exercise independent judgment and decision making in problem identification and resolution
BLS certification
Core Competencies
Performs routine and specialized laboratory testing according to established protocols, procedures, and standards of Laboratory Science practice.
Exercises appropriate critical thinking skills and knowledge in clinical decision-making.
Applies principles and concepts of quality assurance/performance improvement to the pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical components of laboratory testing.
Applies safety and government regulations and standards to laboratory practice.
Maintains knowledge base of contemporary Laboratory Science.
Practices the ethics of the profession.
Job Responsibilities
- Demonstrates proficiency in general laboratory practice including Chemistry, Special Chemistry, Coagulation, Hematology, Blood Bank, Immunology, Limited Microbiology, Molecular Microbiology, Urinalysis, Microscopy, Phlebotomy, and specimen processing and handling.
- Demonstrates working knowledge of laboratory accreditation and regulations and actively participates in the accreditation process.
- Successfully performs required quality control and proficiency testing and actively evaluates QC/PT data and develops corrective actions and follow-up, as needed.
- Actively participates in Quality Management process, as needed.
- Performs required preventative maintenance on analytical equipment and troubleshoots problems with appropriate follow-up.
- Maintains accurate records of testing, quality control, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Assists with the evaluation and development of new or improved test systems, as assigned.
- Serves as a technical resource for clinicians and branch clinic laboratory personnel.
- Maintains a safe work environment.
- Instructs patients in proper collection procedures.
- Affords assistance with new employee orientation and competency assessment with performance evaluation and documentation.
- Complies with organization/department policies, procedures, and requirements for mandatory education.
