North Alabama Medical Center is a 263-bed facility offering open-heart surgery, a complete line of women's and children's services, and a full range of medical and imaging services. We are a Certified Chest Pain Center and a Primary Stroke Center of Excellence, with a 24-hour emergency department serving as the primary referral center for major trauma cases in Northwest Alabama.
About the role
Performs routine laboratory tests in various sections of the laboratory. Reports to the Director of Laboratory Services.
Responsibilities
- Performs common testing procedures and reports test results accurately.
- Conducts instrument maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Performs quality control testing to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Maintains supplies and equipment necessary for testing.
- Participates in performance improvement and continuing education.
- Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Associate's Degree in Science required.
- MLT certification through ASCP or AMT preferred.
- Occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens.
- Frequent sitting, computer/data entry, and instrument handling; occasional standing, walking, and light lifting.
- Regular exposure to biological and chemical hazards, including blood and bodily fluids, hazardous medications, and latex.
