Job Description

Medical Lab Scientist, Staff Flex Contract
$66.64/hr + differentials
13 weeks
Full time, Nights, 11:30p - 7:00a, Sat/Sun required
Open availability No on-call

Requirements

  • ASCP or AMT certification [Required]
  • Beckman Access and AU experience [Preferred]
  • Interprets complex test results.
  • Serves as a resource for complex tests and procedures.
  • Manages instrument maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Leads quality control and assurance testing.
  • Assists with data collection and special projects.
  • Trains medical laboratory staff.
  • Performs pre-analytical activities.
  • Conducts tests and analytical procedures efficiently and accurately.
  • Participates in proficiency testing.
  • Performs post-analytical activities.
  • Provides orientation and training to new employees and medical technology students.
  • Documents orientation and training of new employees and medical technology students.

Qualifications

  • Technical skills and aptitudes related to the laboratory testing, procedures and processes performed in department or work area assigned.
  • Fulfills the requirements of the Corporate Compliance Plan and adheres to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state, and federal agencies and accrediting bodies; protects confidentiality of patient information and results at all times.
  • Knowledge of laboratory rules and regulations including: AABB, CAP, CLIA.
  • Ability to work independently and adapt to varying priorities, including directing workflow with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to maintain equipment/records and perform quality assessment activities.
  • Ability to operate computer systems to maintain patient documentation, testing records, and other related documents.
  • Ability to educate and train new staff in medical laboratory settings.
  • Ability and willingness to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, holidays, etc.
  • Ability and willingness to adapt to change.
  • Ability and willingness to communicate appropriately and effectively with patients and their family, hospital staff, nurses, physicians, and other health care professionals.
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office [Required].
