Medical Interpreter: Spanish

Responsibilities

• Facilitates daily cross-cultural, effective communication both orally and in writing between patients, family members, medical providers, and hospital staff.
• Provides language interpretation and translation services between the target language and English according to industry standards.
• Assists employees in providing linguistically and culturally appropriate clinical services to patients and families.
• Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care for the physical, psychological, social, educational, and safety needs of the patients served regardless of age.
• Performs other duties as required.

Technical Expertise

• Proficient use of English and the target language is required.
• Experience in medical interpreting is required.
• Experience working with all levels within an organization is preferred.
• Experience in healthcare is preferred.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) or similar software is required.

Education And Experience

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent is required; Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience is preferred.
• Certification: Evidence of passing a medical interpreter training program is required; National medical interpreting certification or credential is preferred.
• Years of relevant experience: 1 to 2 years is preferred.
• Years of experience supervising: None.

PRN – onsite in Mahoning Valley and surrounding areas. Must be fluent in Spanish. CCHI or NBCMI certifications preferred.
