About the role
The Member Liaison Bilingual provides interpreter services during clinic visits, telephone outreach, and follow-up to members and patients for arranging appointments, interpretation, translation, and facilitating transportation when needed. This position works closely with all departments to assist with language access needs and helps navigate the GHC-SCW system.
Responsibilities
- Provide interpreter services during clinic visits and telephone outreach
- Arrange appointments and interpret/translate for members and patients
- Facilitate transportation when needed
- Assist members and patients with navigating the GHC-SCW system
- Help solve service issues when needed
Requirements
- High school education or equivalent
- Post-high school education is desirable
- Six (6) months to one (1) year experience providing medical interpretation services, or equivalent
- Experience in an acute care or clinic setting is highly desirable
- National certification through the Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreting (CCHI) or the National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters (NBCMI)
- Demonstrated proficiency in providing interpretation and translation in second language/English language
- Familiarity with different dialects or regional variations of the second language, if applicable
- Possession of a valid State of Wisconsin Driver license, access to a vehicle, and the ability to travel
- Access to a cellular phone for work
- Ability to provide consecutive phone interpretation when needed and occasional simultaneous interpretation
- Ability to work effectively with a diverse patient population
- Excellent customer services skills
- Cultural sensitivity and approachability in representing GHC-SCW
- Maintain organizational and patient confidentiality
- Knowledge and/or ability to learn HIPAA requirements
- Knowledge of or ability to learn and use various computer programs including Microsoft Office programs
- Willingness to learn the use of Epic for scheduling and documentation purposes
- Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to listen, troubleshoot, and be flexible
- Ability to work efficiently and under stressful situations
- Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet customer needs
