Medical Interpreter 1, Spanish

Responsibilities

• Provide oral, sight, and written interpretation for Spanish.
• Transmit information accurately between patient and provider or staff.
• Encourage direct communication between patient and provider or staff.
• Manage complexity of cross‑cultural encounters.
• Provide sight translation in the presence of a provider and/or other medical staff.
• Assist patients to complete medical, financial, or other forms.

Requirements

• High school graduation or equivalent.
• At least two years of interpretation experience in a clinic or hospital setting.
• Medical interpreter certification or qualification from Washington State Department of Social and Health Services, the National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters, or the Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreters.
• Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute where legal requirements do not apply.

Pay

Minimum: $28.54 per hour

Maximum: $40.86 per hour
