Medical Director, USMA Respiratory

The Medical Director, USMA Respiratory, will work as part of the Medical Matrix Team responsible for the medical impact of an asset. The Medical Director helps develop the medical strategy and executes medical affairs tactics for a key asset.

Responsibilities

• Help develop US medical strategy and perspective, ensuring alignment with commercial asset strategy where appropriate.
• Contribute to the cross-functional Medical Matrix Team to tailor and adapt global asset strategy for US-specific customer needs and environment.
• Provide strategic oversight of US tactical plans aligned to strategy.
• Gain strategic alignment of asset positioning and evidence planning with the overall therapeutic portfolio and disease area strategies.
• Engage with external communities to advance scientific and medical understanding, including the appropriate development and use of medicines, disease management, and patient care.
• Coordinate with US Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs) and Global Medical Affairs Leads (GMAL) on joint global and US engagement of top US-based external experts where appropriate.
• Understand the evolving healthcare environment (provider/expert and payer landscapes) and translate that knowledge into actionable plans.
• Review, synthesize, and analyze clinical trial and real-world evidence (RWE) data, translating it into actionable plans at the product level.
• Develop product strategy for local Medical Advisory Board and Expert Panel meetings, consultancies, medical grants, and medical publications.
• Support Medical Information on FAQs and standard response letters.
• Follow sound medical governance for all activities.

Requirements

• Healthcare Doctorate (PharmD, PhD, MD, DO, DNP, NP, PA).
• 5+ years of pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical communications industry experience.
• Experience working in a US healthcare environment.
• External stakeholder management experience.
• Experience in medical affairs accountabilities, evidence generation, external peer-to-peer HCP engagement, and providing internal advice.

Preferred Qualifications

• 3-5 years of medical affairs, scientific director, or medical director experience, preferably with HQ experience.
• Respiratory disease area expertise and appropriate medical and/or clinical experience.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Experience interacting with all levels of management and staff.
• Ability to influence, drive change, and proactively identify new opportunities.
• Continuous improvement mindset in a performance-based culture.
• Flexible thinking to analyze the external environment, translate insights into strategy, and gain support for implementation.
