About the role

The Nemours Children's Hospital, Florida (NCH-FL) Medical Director of Hematopathology, Department of Pathology is a physician leader responsible for overseeing clinical laboratory operations and diagnostic testing for blood, bone marrow, and lymph node disorders. In partnership with the NCHF-FL Chair of Pathology, lead a team of NCH-FL pathologists to ensure regulatory compliance and provide expert clinical consultation to oncologists and hematologists. In collaboration with the NCHF-FL Chair of Pathology, this role partners with departmental and institutional leaders to advance quality, regulatory compliance, program growth, operational excellence, and innovation in support of a high-performing pediatric hematopathology program.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical and diagnostic oversight for Hematopathology services in NCH-FL.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory, accreditation, quality, and patient safety standards across laboratory services.
  • Serve as a hematopathology subject matter expert for maximizing and optimizing the EMR and laboratory information systems as it relates to hematopathology orders, results, and clinical and laboratory documentation.
  • Partner with Chair of Pathology in providing medical and administrative leadership for laboratory stewardship, operational performance, resource management, and continuous improvement related to hematopathology services.
  • Collaborate with clinical, research, and administrative partners to support innovative patient care, academic advancement, and enterprise integration.

Requirements

Essential qualifications include:

  • A medical degree from an accredited institution.
  • Able to obtain and maintain a valid medical license in the state of Florida.
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience in hematopathology.
  • Experience in managing a large, complex laboratory environment.
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Qualifications

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Board certification in Anatomic and/or Clinical Pathology.
  • Experience in pediatric hematopathology.
  • Leadership experience in a healthcare setting.

Skills
