About the role
The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital-Somerset, seeks a Medical Director. The position oversees all aspects of the laboratory operation, provides clinical direction, and collaborates with physicians and other healthcare providers.
Responsibilities
- Leadership of the pathology laboratory at RWJUH-Somerset
- Planning, organizing, and directing laboratory activities
- Serving as a subject matter expert and consultant
- Providing clinical direction to the Somerset laboratory
- Overseeing laboratory operations and test validation
- Maintaining College of American Pathologists accreditation of the laboratory
- Consulting with clinical staff and participating in tumor boards
- Leading a general pathology service within a community hospital
Requirements
A minimum of five (5) years experience, an MD, DO, or MBBS, board certification in AP/CP, a New Jersey Medical License, and eligibility for a New Jersey Medical Staff privileges are required.
Qualifications
Experience in a CAP accredited laboratory is desirable. Subspecialty expertise in cytopathology or hematopathology is also desirable.
Skills
Strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and the ability to work effectively with a multidisciplinary team are essential.
