About the role

TeamHealth is seeking a compassionate and driven physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R) physician to join our inpatient rehabilitation care as medical director team in the Knoxville, Tennessee, area. This is a full-time opportunity (5 days/week) rounding in an inpatient rehab facility, with excellent support and training, autonomy, and earning potential. You will provide high-quality care to a diverse patient population, collaborate with an experienced multidisciplinary team, and build meaningful relationships with patients and their families, delivering exceptional care during life's pivotal moments. A comprehensive 3‑month onboarding program, dedicated clinical field mentor, and support from industry‑leading clinical experts in post‑acute medicine will facilitate your transition, with growth and leadership opportunities available within the market. Participation in the Medical Director Leadership Academy (MDLA) will prepare you for quality‑improvement initiatives and collaboration with facility leadership as a valued team partner, and medical directorship opportunities could significantly increase your income.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive PM&R-focused evaluations, including functional assessments and physical exams
• Develop and manage individualized rehabilitation plans to restore function and maximize independence
• Monitor functional progress and adjust treatment plans to support recovery goals
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary rehab teams, including therapy and nursing staff
• Educate patients and families on recovery expectations, mobility, and long-term function
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in compliance with regulatory standards

Qualifications

• Current physician license (State of TN) and DEA
• Experience in PM&R, inpatient rehab facilities, hospitals, or clinic settings preferred, but not required; new grads welcome to apply
• Strong clinical foundation and knowledge of healthcare regulatory standards
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Collaborative, team-oriented approach with a positive outlook

Pay

Compensation is fee for service with an estimated compensation range of $438,955 to $450,000 annually with no cap on productivity income potential. Medical directorship opportunities could provide a significant increase to your income.
