About the role

Dartmouth Health’s Department of Psychiatry seeks a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to serve as Medical Director of a new adolescent inpatient psychiatry program at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, VT. This role includes dedicated time for administrative responsibilities and direct clinical care on the unit. Clinically, you will provide state-of-the-art acute psychiatric and substance-related disorder care for adolescents aged 12–17. The inpatient unit is supported by an experienced team of psychiatric nurse practitioners, social workers, therapists, psychiatrists, and medical providers delivering high-quality care.

Responsibilities

  • Lead administrative responsibilities for the adolescent inpatient psychiatry program
  • Provide direct clinical care to adolescents aged 12–17 with acute psychiatric and substance-related disorders
  • Supervise and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team including nurse practitioners, social workers, therapists, and medical providers
  • Teach in didactic or supervisory settings within the child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship or psychiatry residency at Dartmouth (opportunities available)

Requirements

  • Advanced clinical degree (MD or DO)
  • Postgraduate training in a residency program
  • Current New Hampshire medical license
  • Current or eligible for ABMS board certification (to be obtained within 5 years)
  • Active hospital staff membership

Qualifications

  • Board certified or eligible in Psychiatry and Child Psychiatry
  • Experience leading a clinical service in psychiatry
  • Strong interest in working in an inpatient setting
