The Child Psychiatrist Medical Director provides psychiatric oversight to clinic staff within the outpatient behavioral health clinic and quality assurance support to the outpatient clinic, including school-based locations. This role is integral to helping clients move toward resiliency and healing, becoming happier and healthier at home, school, and in the community.
Responsibilities
- Provide clinical support for all outpatient therapists, including attending a bi-monthly treatment team.
- Support all quality assurance and process improvement activities for the clinic in collaboration with the Clinical Director.
- Provide support to other psychiatry staff, including CRNPs.
- Maintain responsibility for a personal patient panel, providing care from initial evaluation through discharge.
- Perform culturally sensitive, strengths-based histories, exams, and determinations of diagnoses and appropriate treatments.
- Oversee all individual client care, including clinical responsibility for follow-up visits, charting, internal/external meetings, communication with community resources, and staff education.
- Respond to client phone calls and conduct individual medication management visits for established clients.
- Fill appropriate prescriptions timely and demonstrate intelligent decision-making regarding triaging of phone calls and lab information.
- Complete accurate billing, documentation (initial evaluation, individualized treatment plans, client and family progress, treatment provided, and outcomes), and insurance authorization forms within specified timeframes in the electronic medical record.
- Develop, in partnership with the client and family, plans for safety, crisis, and wellbeing (when needed) to support maintenance of stable functioning.
- Create a discharge plan for all clients, including discharge instructions for families.
Requirements
- MD or DO degree.
- Active Pennsylvania medical license.
- Completion of Psychiatry Residency.
- Completion of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship.
- DEA registration.
- Eligibility to prescribe controlled substances.
- Current CPR and First Aid Certification (required or obtained upon hire).
- Clearances Required: Act 73 FBI, Act 34 Criminal Clearance, and Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance.
Schedule
Contracted role with a flexible schedule – 12 hours/week.
