About the role
The Medical Consultant (MC) works under the direction of the Disability Evaluation Services Administrator I (DESA I) to adjudicate disability benefit applications under Social Security, Supplemental Security Income, and Medi-Cal programs. The MC evaluates case histories, medical reports, and assesses the effects of medical or surgical treatments against program requirements. They also provide assessments of functional abilities based on program guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Evaluates and interprets medical reports and case histories
- Evaluates possible effects of medical or surgical treatment in relation to program requirements
- Provides assessments of the applicant’s functional abilities based on program guidelines
- Participates in decision-making regarding team endeavors related to quality, workflow, and production
