Medical Coding Coordinator

Become a part of our caring community as a Medical Coding Coordinator 1, extracting clinical information from medical records and assigning appropriate procedural terminology and medical codes (e.g., ICD-10-CM, CPT) to patient records. This role performs basic administrative, clerical, operational, customer support, and computational tasks, typically working on routine and patterned assignments under close supervision.

About the role

  • Confirm appropriate diagnosis related group (DRG) assignments.
  • Analyze, enter, and manipulate database information.
  • Respond to or clarify internal requests for medical information.
  • Decisions are guided by defined parameters around work expectations, quality standards, priorities, and timing within established policies and practices.

Note: This position is not remote.

Requirements

  • High school graduate.
  • CPC, CCS, or CRC certification required.
  • 2 years of medical coding experience.
  • Experience interpreting medical records (electronic and paper).
  • Experience working with physicians regarding coding requirements.
  • Knowledge of CPT/HPCS and ICD-9/ICD-10 coding.
  • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
  • Knowledge of medical documentation and requirements.
  • Excellent typing and 10-key speed and accuracy.
  • Commitment to a high level of customer service.
  • Previous experience operating office machinery, including copier, fax, computer, and printer.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft products.

Pay

The pay range for this full-time (40 hours per week) position is $40,000 - $52,300 per year. The range may vary based on geographic location, and individual pay will depend on demonstrated job-related skills, knowledge, experience, education, and certifications.
