Medical Coders

Loyal Source Government Services is seeking 6 full-time Medical Coders (Medical Records Technician) to provide remote coding services to the Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center (FHCC), its associated Community-Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs), and affiliated healthcare clinics for our Veteran population.

Responsibilities

• Review health care provider medical record coding for completeness and accuracy, clarify and correct provider coding as necessary.
• Review and screen the entire medical record to abstract medical, surgical, laboratory, pharmaceutical, radiologic, demographic, social, and administrative data in a timely manner.
• Ensure all diagnoses and procedures that may impact the facility’s reimbursement are identified, documented by the physician, sequenced correctly, and coded accurately and ethically for optimum reimbursement.
• Determine the most appropriate codes for routine, new, or unusual diagnoses and procedures not clearly listed in ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, and HCPCS.
• Query providers via encrypted Outlook email using the Provider Query Foundation OneNote for compliant queries and coding clarification to ensure accurate coding reporting.

Requirements

• Minimum of three (3) years of continuous coding experience.
• One of the following certifications:
  • Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) – AHIMA
  • Certified Coding Specialist (CCS or CCS-P) – AHIMA
  • Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) – AHIMA
  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC) – AAPC
• Must be within 50 miles of The Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center (3001 N. Green Bay Rd., North Chicago, IL 60064).
• Remote position.

Schedule

• Monday–Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. CST.

Pay

$35.27/hour + $5.09 H&W fringe.
